Early Homer Laughlin Covered Pitcher, c. 1904

This early Homer Laughlin pitcher is approximately 5¼" in diameter at its octangular base and 9" high to the top of its lid. It is marked Homer Laughlin 10 4 N, indicating it was probably produced in October 1904. The pitcher has no chips but has some overall grazing and appears to have a hairline crack revealed only after some light cleaning (see second photograph). The cover's handle has been repaired (see last photograph). The pitcher is very yellowed and needs a thorough cleaning. We acquired the pitcher at a mid-west farm auction and are leaving the cleaning to the new owner who will have to decide how much of the pitcher's natural patina should be removed to clean and brighten it up. We have set a low opening bid to reflect these condition notes. Nonetheless, this rarely seen, early covered pitcher should make a great addition to any extensive Homer Laughlin collection.
