Instructions for Use

Click on the middle of the desired image. After the image has enlarged to full size, right click the mouse on the image and select "Save Image As" (use the default name for easy reference). Note the subdirectory/folder where the image is downloaded. Use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.

Windows 98 can use the jpeg images without user initiated changes, but Windows 95 requires that the images be saved as bit maps (bmp) for use as wallpaper/background. This can be easily accomplished by opening the image in an image editor such as Paint (included with the Windows 95/98 operating systems, located in the "accessories" subdirectory/folder) and saving the image as a 24-bit bit map (bmp format). Many users convert to bmp format even for use with Windows 98.

To install the new background, go to the Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Background. Browse to the subdirectory/folder containing the downloaded image. Select the image as wallpaper/background.

Suggested settings:

  • sphinx & pyramids at Giza -- stretched
  • Abu Simbel -- stretched
  • Colossi of Memnon -- stretched
